If I Could Make It Go Tranquillity (stylized in all lowercase) is the debut studio album by Norwegian musician Girl in Red, released independently through AWAL and her own World in Red label on 30 Apr 2021, later on existence delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was primarily produced past the musician herself alongside Matias Tellez and features additional product from Finneas O'Connell.
Sonically, it has been described as a more ambitious, mature, and developed continuation of the musician's previous bedroom pop and indie rock musical style established in the early on EPs Chapter 1 (2018) and Chapter 2 (2019). Lyrically, the singer has described the record equally an "emotional recap" of the year 2022 in which she explores her personal mental health experiences too every bit "the different sides of love".

Background and release [edit]
In late 2022 and early on 2020, Girl in Red began continuously teasing and hinting at the phrase "Earth in Red". She told Billboard in September 2022 that this would be the title of her debut anthology which would be released in October 2020, and that 2022 would exist her yr of "world domination",[xiv] [15] but this plan was spoiled due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the music manufacture.[16] [17] She told NME in Apr 2020, that "[the COVID-19 pandemic] ain't gonna stop Globe In Red, baby!"[18] In April 2020, the single "Midnight Love" was released as the pb single and start taste from what was then deemed Girl in Red's debut album.[nineteen] [20] "Rue" was released as the second single in August 2020.[21] "Serotonin" was released as the third single shortly after the album's proclamation on social media in early March 2021.[22] [23] [24] [25] [26] The official album cover was revealed with this announcement to exist a painting past Norwegian artist Fredrik Wiig Sørensen.[27] "Serotonin" premiered as Irish DJ Annie Mac's Hottest Record on BBC Radio 1, where Daughter in Red herself deemed it "the biggest rails [she's] e'er put out" and "the best track [she] has ever written or produced".[28]
Recording and concept [edit]
The record was primarily produced by Girl in Cerise and Norwegian musician Matias Tellez, making it the start time in the former's career that she has worked with a record producer other than herself.[29] The album'south second single, "Rue", was inspired past the titular fictional character for the American TV series Euphoria,[30] while its third single, "Serotonin", also features additional production from American record producer Finneas O'Connell.[24] The latter deemed it "i of the coolest songs [he had] always heard" and revealed that he was "thrilled that [he] got to be a part of it."[31] Daughter in Scarlet revealed to NME that she's "definitely confronting [her]self on this album" and described the record every bit "cohesive".[32] She also told Insider virtually her plans and ambitions for the album'south rollout and recording, noting that it "promises a more developed and mature sound."[20] [33] The song "Serotonin" explores her personal struggles with intrusive thoughts which she claimed to have experienced for over 10 years.[34]
And while its title is still under wraps, she promises that "in that location'southward some crazy shit going down on this album. I tin tell you that for certain. I'm doing things I've never washed before. Information technology'south a very, very ambitious album." Still bearing the distinctive girl in red hallmarks we know and honey – "except way, way cooler," Marie notes – the vocalizer is already sure of her ideal reaction to the album: "'Holy fuck, I didn't run across this coming! This is some grown, ii.0 shit.'" The record, she continues, acts every bit an "emotional recap" of the past yr. "I'chiliad writing a lot about my mental health and the different sides of love – you know, the type of things that take upwards my time," she elaborates.
